Why inspect
A crane is a life-critical machine. Regular inspection catches wear before it becomes failure. Most standards (e.g. OSHA, EN13001, GB/T) require documented checks at three levels.
Daily (pre-shift) checks
- Wire rope: broken wires, deformation, correct lubrication — see our electric hoists and overhead cranes.
- Hook: no cracks, safety latch present, free rotation.
- Limits & controls: upper/lower limit switches and emergency stop function.
- Visual: leaks, unusual noise, alarm.
Monthly checks
- Brake clearance and response on double girder and gantry units.
- Rail clamp and wind anchor on outdoor RTG / gantry cranes.
- Bolt tightness of structure and trolley.
Annual / major inspection
- NDT weld inspection of main girder (100% on heavy ladle cranes).
- Load test (static 1.25×, dynamic 1.1×) per scheme.
- Full electrical and control-system review.
